It's official

I have taken a deep breath and put down a deposit with a seamstress. Actually, every time I went to meet with Terri, I felt totally fine. It's only in these weeks before the wedding, in between fittings, that the voice of Bridezilla takes over, whispering doubts in a voice that's warmth and laced with some hard-to-place gin cocktail.

It's going to be LOVELY. Only sorta traditional. Without giving away the ghost, it's tea length, blue silk shift below and white cotton eyelet dress above. If any of you have seen that dress I've worn to every wedding for the past four years--the rose-bedecked flimsy little number, you have an idea of the sleeves & bodice. Skirt has some flounce, not too much. It's a pretty traditional style dress, actually, just not for wedding gowns. I refuse to wear something that stands on its own, without a dress form.

La! That's all I'll say! Whitey has spies everywhere.

BTW I'm maintaining my stance that bridesmaids wear whatever the heck they feel comfortable in. Nuff said.

Wheeeeee this is like a treasure hunt

We have some contenders......

This little number comes in cornflower. Charming, isn't it?

And I found the most INCREDIBLE website, poshgirlvintage.com.

That's where these two came from..... both
already sold, I'm afraid, but fueling my
bridal jones.

STILL having awful trouble finding fun,
flapper-esque 20s and 30s stuff!

Anybody have any ideas?

Well, that settles it!

Ladyfriend -of-Honor Shula Neuman has found the dress.

Floor length for me, tea length for the attendants.

But Shula, the website doesn't specify whether the Minnie ears are sold separately.

WHATSYERDRESSLOOKLIKE?!?!??!!

How, oh, how can you know what to wear to the Columbus Ceremony? If it makes you feel any better, I don't know what I'm wearing yet either. Here's what I can tell you so far:

If you need to know what not to wear, click here for some real screamers.

I've seen all the by-the-book definitions of party attire, and I have to say they're not very helpful for summer late-afternoon events. I could see using phrases like semi-formal to "creative cocktail."

First and foremost, BE COMFORTABLE! It's August, right? The Hall is air conditioned, but we can't have anyone passing out from heat-stroke on their way. So bare arms, bare shoulders, and no way are we doing floor-length dresses.

Color? Go nuts. I'm not going to be the palette police. I'm sort of leaning toward pastel stuff. Peach, maybe shades of pink, champagne....If get hooked on some dress that's some crazy shade of, say Paprika or Cerulean, I'll let you know.

What am I checking out? Gee. I really hoped we'd get through this post without me having to commit to something. Urrrrrr. For starters, maybe something like this.

But this is also entertaining.

My most excited moments so far have been browsing the Vogue Vintage patterns.

I'm going to see if I can find some styles that go back even further.

Feel free to post here, if you've got ideas....
